1. This looks like a project I might be interested in. How do I find out more

    information?

You can email Donna Sloan Beverly a info@imconnection.org or write to IMC at 503 Papillion Trace, Woodstock, Georgia 30188!.

2. How can I be a part of this effort?

We need your time, your talent, your contributions, and your prayers.

  • Be a monthly Amigo Sponsor by sending $10 or more each month to feed and clothe a child.
  • Make a one-time annual donation.
  • Make a designated donation for the expansion of the children's tutorial program? The women's training program? The library? The pharmacy?
  • Collect donations of over-the-counter medicines, such as aspirin, diarrhea medicine, bandaids, Neosporin, Multivitamins, Robitussin, and other basic medical supplies that can be dispenses in the pharmacy.
  • Collect hygiene products such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, small soaps, baby wipes, small shampoos.
  • Donate frequent flyer miles that can be used for trips back and forth to Honduras.
  • Volunteer to help with a fund raising event.
  • Volunteer to make contacts to friends, family, and church members whom you know to spread the word about IMC.
  • Encourage a civic group or church group to adopt IMC for one year to contribute time and donations and to find out more about what IMC is doing in Honduras.
  • Let us know about needs in other third world countries that need assistance from IMC.

3. Do you accept contributions, other than financial donations?

Yes. However, we have learned from experience that it is not cost effective to ship used clothing overseas. We encourage people who can collect clothing and used goods to plan a yard sale and donate the proceeds to IMC. We do take down over-the-counter supplies and light weight items that can be easily transported and welcome such contributions. Children's books, markers, craft kits, educational materials in Spanish, board games and light weight recreational equipment are always needed.

We have a huge need for contributions of labor and services! People who are willing to pitch in with construction projects, painting, and doing minor repair work to our building. People who can install wiring and plumbing.

Interested in teaching a children's class or helping a women's group learn a new skill or do yyou want to plan a one time retreat or conference for young people? We need you.

Know how to lead a group in a craft?
Like to teach sports and recreation?
Imagine yourself helping people to learn to grow a vegetable garden?
Play a musical instrument?

We can use almost anything and anyone who is willing to share some time in a mountain village.

4. Can I get my civic group or church group involved in a mission trip?

Absolutely. We will help you design a mission trip that fits your needs and the age and abilities of your group. We will accompany your group and make sure that you are given the Honduran red carpet treatment.

For groups that do not want to stay in the village, first class accommodations are available in nearby Tegucigalpa, the country's capital. The Intercontinental Hotel, for example, is located in a safe district and convenient to shopping and restaurants. For small groups that are ready to experience the mission to its fullest, we have a clean apartment on the mission grounds that is set up for volunteers.

5. How much would it cost me to go on a mission trip?

The cost, of course, will vary depending upon your point of departure and your accommodations. To give you an idea, Delta flies direct to Tegucigalpa from Atlanta…a four hour flight that costs approximately $700. Top hotels cost approximately $90 to $120 a night for four guests and usually includes a breakfast buffet. Bidding on the Internet travel sites can usually result in some bargains.
We can assist you in getting reasonable fares and group rates.

Meals are affordable in Honduras and there are Internet cafes and shopping centers located in the hotel district.

If you choose to stay in the village, there is no cost to sleep at the mission, but you should expect to take your own sleeping bag, linens, toiletries, and bottled water.

6. Are you looking for individual or church sponsors?

We want to connect with individuals and groups who have an interest in getting to know IMC and the people who are being reached by the efforts of our organization. Making a commitment to sponsor a child or a project or adopt the mission in general helps make that connection count. When you choose to be a sponsor, we invite you to email our Honduran friends and to exchange photos and letters with our children and young people who need to know that someone cares.

7. Can my church group help out with a one time project?

A one-time project is a great way to get involved and get acquainted with who we are. If you want to plan an event, a fund raiser, or initiate a donation drive, we will gladly help you…or make plans to speak to your group about what we are doing.

If you have a project in mind that we haven't already begun, we welcome your input and your fresh vision.

Remember that this village has absolutely no American relief efforts or mission involvement except ours, so anything you can think of that might be needed..probably is needed.

8. Are contributions to IMC tax-deductible?

International Mission Connection is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization that is fully recognized by the IRS. Your contributions are tax-deductible and you will receive an annual statement of your contributions that can be used when you prepare your tax returns.

9. Is IMC affiliated with a particular church or denomination?

No. Many people think that we are part of a particular religious denomination because we are Christian-based. An essential tenet of our organization is "connection". To that end, we want to connect church groups, civic groups, scouts, and individuals together for common purpose without excluding any affiliation. We invite Protestants, evangelicals, Catholics, and all of those who choose to remain non-denominational to share in this effort to make a difference in our world, hand-in-hand, heart-to-heart.
